Enjoy Being a Christian :: Warren Wiersbe

It surprises many Christians to discover that the word enjoy is found in the Bible. As a friend commented to me one day, “Most Christians endure the Christian life; they don’t really enjoy it.” But how can you help but enjoy being a Christian when you realize how rich you are in Christ?

You have, for instance, the “riches of his goodness” (Ro 2:4). “For the LORD is good,” sings the psalmist (100:5), and He is! The everyday provisions of your needs, the sunshine and rain, the power to work—all of these are evidences of the goodness of God. The trouble is that too many Christians forget the goodness of the Lord and take these blessings for granted.

And, there are “the riches of his grace” (Eph. 1:7). God in His grace meets every spiritual need you may have. He is “the God of all grace” (1 Pe 5:10), and “he giveth more grace” (Ja 4:6). He promises, “My grace is sufficient for thee” in 2 Corinthians 12:9. God in His mercy does not give you what you do deserve, but God in His grace gives you what you don’t deserve!

But please do not forget “his riches in glory” (Phil. 4:19). While on earth, Jesus was the poorest of the poor; but glorified today in heaven, He is the richest of the rich! Do you need strength? Ephesians 3:16 promises this strength “according to the riches of his glory.” Turn to your glorified Lord in heaven and, by faith, receive what you need.

God wants you to enjoy the “true riches” of heaven (Lk 16:11) and not the passing riches of this world. Enjoy them today!
